Reflection on 200808

I really appreciated how the teacher explained the way that pedalogical approaches should be used in the classrooms. More often than not, we as teachers would decide on an ICT first, then work towards how it should be used in the classrooms. This has served us well most of the times and so we continued toding so.

However, after today's lesson, and the teachings of the different types of pedalogical approaches (PA), I;ve found out that we had to decide on a particular PA first before thinking of what relavent ICT should be use to best present the idea to the students.

The learning and readings of the various PAs has opened up the approaches that I can use in the classrooms in the future, and increased my resources that I can use. Being a Design and Technology teacher, engaging the students had always been one of my priorites. The students' short attention span, not paying attention to details, and sometimes even over-eagerness are some of the things that I have to consider.
The PAs allows me to come up with new and refreshing ways to engage the students and bring out the latent potential in them.

Today's teaching by the Prof was also something new, which I may or may not use in class, depending on the students' ability to engage in independant learning. The reading up and research would be good for the students with higher learning abilities but bad for students who can't even be bothered to do their homework!
The critique of other people's work would allow the students to meet the datelines on thier own and present a 'acceptable' piece of work that would not be too lack of information and thinking processes, and I would really want to try it out in the classrooms in the future.

pbWiki has provided a open platform for the students (including myself) to post my ideas on the work involved easily, the ability to only limit access to certin people would also help monitor the changes/comments that would be made. It is a really useful tool!
