What are the IT tools used in schools?

There were various IT tools that were used by the student, mainly by use of various computer software that are available, as well as PDAs, cameras, video cameras, tablet PCs, lego electronics sets, digital blackboards

How are these IT tools used to enhance the learning process of students?

The use of such tools allow the students to visualise and relate to the topic and at the same time appeal better to the students by use of the animations, videos and various computer software. Students no longer just read about the topic from the textbook, but actually get a hands on with the various equipments that can be used.
This allows the student to relate to the topic better, generate interest rather than feeling bored and uninterested about the topic.

What is the role of the teacher in sustaining the use of IT in teaching and learning?

The teachers, being the person that is closest knowing the learning abilities of the class, would be able to make use of the IT tools that are available to them to customise and create a curriculum that best suit the students. The teacher is also be a facilitator, mentor, administrator to the students as they make use of the available IT resources. They will assist and guide the studetns as they explore, investigate and discover new information for themselves. By customising the use of IT to be relevant to the students, allows the teacher to ensure the sustainabilty of the use of IT as it is always changing to meet the needs of the students. Other factors mentioned would be the practical and sound pedagogical considerations to aid the students in their exploration of the topic.

What were some examples of student-centred learning?

Some examples would include engaging the students according to their needs and abilities both in and out of the classroom, this allows the students to learn in an authentic environment and in collboration with each other, bringing about the attitude of exploring and learning on their own, as well as constructing their own knowledge aquired through the hands on approach via IT resources.
It also refers to customising the lessons according to the needs of the school down to the individual class, to the individual student, where the student can learn on their own pace and method, rather than just across a broad spectrum.
